This is my Anime Winter 2011 Season Preview guide. After making this Guide, I realized that I’m willing to sit through a lot of crap. I believe that Spring 2011 will be much more enjoyable than Winter 2011. *sigh* Someone needs to pay me. Nonetheless, there are still some good shows out there.
Leave a comment about what anime you’ll watch.
Synopsis: Strong delinquent Oga (nicknamed Ogre, Demon, or “it’d be alright if he’d just die” by other delinquents) picks up a baby that turns out to be the son of the Great Demon King! Chosen to raise the baby until he’s in age of destroying mankind, together with the demon maid Hilda, they’re sure to make mankind die… of laughter!
The most awesome manga of 2009 is finally turning into an anime!! Long Live The New World Oga!!!! My winter will be complete with Beezebub. Naked Baby + Demonic Delinquent = Brilliant lol. Best Anime of 2011 candidate there.
Synopsis: Beings from another dimension, called “Nova” have started a war with Earth. In response, “Genetics Academy” trains female warriors called “Pandora”, who can create special weapons and armors to fight against the Nova. Kazuya Aoi enrolls, due to a promise he made with his sister, a famous Pandora who died in battle, and meets Bridgette L. Satellizer, infamous for her solitary demeanour, and becomes her “tuner”, an assistant who nullifies Novas’ psychic attacks.
YES!! Fan service to the MAX!! There’s action! The female lead is a crazy chick!! What else could you want? Hmmm let’s see…Not another manga made by a Korean that’s going to be filtered for Japan…where have I seen that before? Oh yeah, Kurokami which was boring compared to the manga (made by the same manga/manhwa author).
Synopsis: Tsutsui Yukitaka was a freshman who had just entered a high school, and he was hoped to be a good baseball player. When he moved to a new apartment, there was a man in the room. He said he was an alien and lost his memory. Actually, he was the first prince of Planet Dogra, and he was the man who had the best brain and the worst nature.
After Hunter X Hunter and Yu Yu Hakusho, we get Level E!!! I will definitly check it out. The world needs more shounen anime, right now.
Kimi ni Todoke season 2
Synopsis: Kuronuma Sawako is completely misunderstood by her classmates. Her timid and sweet demeanor is often mistaken for malicious behavior. This is due to her resemblance to the ghost girl from “The Ring”, which has led her peers to give her the nickname Sadako. Longing to make friends and live a normal life, she is naturally drawn to Kazehaya Shouta, the most popular guy in class, whose “100% refreshing” personality earns great admiration from Sawako.
You’ve got the cutest and the most innocent slice of life anime of the decade, right here. Personally I liked the first season. I read the manga following the anime. I’m going to try to create a time slot for Kimi ni Todoke. Tomofumi Tanizawa is back to do the op for the show again.
Synopsis: The 11-year-old Marui triplets could not be any more different. The oldest one, Mitsuba, is sadistic and kind of mature for her age. The middle one, Futaba, is perverted and very athletic and has the strength of a full-grown man. The youngest one, Hitoha, is generally very quiet and gentle but when push comes to shove, she might just be the strongest, the most perverted and the most sadistic out of the three. The three are all in the same class, led by the newly graduated teacher Yabe Satoshi. He usually gets pushed around by the girls and, on occasion, abused but the triplets also try to lead him and the new school nurse, the clumsy Kuriyama Aiko, together. However, Yabe had no intention of dating Aiko and the methods the triplets use to accomplish their goal are highly unorthodox…
I never really got into the first season. Ever since the stepping on piss segment, I’ve long forgotten about Mitsudomoe. Apparently, It’s popular. Not for me, probably for you. Try Mitsudomoe out if you want.
From season 1
Synopsis: Gosick takes place in 1924 in a small, made-up European country of Sauville. The story centers on Kazuya Kujo, the third son of a Japanese Imperial soldier, who is a transfer student to St. Marguerite Academy, where urban legends and horror stories are all the rage. There he meets Victorique, a mysterious yet beautiful and brilliant girl who never comes to class and spends her days reading the entire content of the library or solving mysteries that even detectives can’t solve. The series mostly focuses on Kazuya and Victorique getting involved in different mystery cases and their struggle to solve them, at the same time forming important bonds with different people.
Even though it looks nice and all with the animation, after reading some manga chapter, I’ve concluded Gosick is BORING!!!!! No thank you. I won’t survive if i keep reading or hearing Victorique’s “Fountain of Wisdom”. Plus, the male lead is boring as hell. The novel is popular, sure but that’s the stuff that fits in novels more than anime or manga.
Oniichan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne—!!
Synopsis: Junior High student Nao’s brother complex is so strong, it’s almost at the point of incest. She’s determined to make her brother, High School student Shuusuke, see her as a woman. So determined, that she goes as far as going into his room to throw away all his non-incest related porn. But as she’s looking for his porno stash, she finds a photo album… and she’s not in any of his childhood pictures.
I’ve read a few manga chapters. The name is giving a headache already. Let me tell you this; this isn’t the new Oreimo. I’d rather compare it to a lesser sexual version of Kiss X Sis. Honestly I probably won’t keep up with it.
Synopsis: The story takes place in an island, where a “Fractale System” is beginning to collapse. One day, Clain finds an injured girl called Phryne under a cliff, who disappears leaving a pendant. Clain sets out for a journey with the girl-shaped avatar Nessa to look for Phryne and discovers the secret of the Fractale System.
This is a science fiction story where the majority of the population prefer using cybernetic bodies called Doppels instead of their real body. The premise seems actually good but the problem is that the manga is extremely mediocre. The main lead is really ordinary. However I understand that there is a big staff working on the anime. I guess they’ll work on amplifying the beauty of things. Thus I will give it a chance without too much expectation though.
Kore wa Zombie desu ka?
Synopsis: Aikawa Ayumu is a normal high school boy. One day he is killed by a serial killer and revived as a zombie by a necromancer named Eucliwood Hellscythe. He starts to serve Eu as her guard but he happens to deprive the mahou shoujo Haruna of her magic power. Haruna orders Ayumu to fight against the anti-mahou shoujo system “Megalo” in her place.
Shana meets Higurashi. I was actually surprised that the trailer actually looked good considering it’s from Studio Deen. I was thinking that this would be a horribly cheesy moe series. Magical Girl + Chainsaw = Win (lol). Now I’m a little bit interested in it. I’ll give it a shot.
Synopsis: A normal high school boy Kisaragi Ryuji’s peaceful life is turned into an adventure by the return of his second cousin Eriko. Ryuji and Eriko seize a relic box from a black broker. In the box, they find a red dragon girl Rose. In order to protect Rose from the black organization, Ryuji decides to fight using his power as a relic handler.
Here is another Studio Deen project… This feels a lot like Asobi ni Iku yo! which I didn’t like. Too cheesy for me. Unless a busty tsundere appears to save the show, I don’t think I’ll watch it.
Synopsis: The heroine, Tsukiko, enrolled to a school that was recently changed from all-boys school to co-ed. Since the area where the school is conveniently rural and the rather exclusive curriculums the school has, up until now the heroine is the only one female who enrolled to the school.
Reverse Harem => bait for women demographic. You got one girl and 12 freaking guys. Studio Deen seems to be preparing for their next anime project in spring 2011 which is a YAOI. Girls, look for Studio Deen to make you happy.
Synopsis: Next in the four-part Marvel Anime project and broadcasts after the Iron Man anime. Wolverine is a mutant, possessing animal-keen senses, enhanced psychical capabilities, three retracting bone claws on each hand and a healing factor that allows him to recover from virtually any wound, disease or toxin at an accelerated rate.
Even though I didn’t bother with Ironman anime, I might just watch this one considering I’m a Wolverine fan. I’ve heard Wolverine made an appearance on Ironman 4th ep. I watched the segment and I gotta he’s badass. *P.S.: It really feels like an eternity to do this preview guide.*
Synopsis: Shûichi Nitori is a 5th grade student who likes to bake and has always been something of a feminine boy. When he transfers to a new school, Shûichi is mistaken for his 6th grade sister on his first day. Then he ends up sitting next to Yoshino Takatsuki, a tall, boyish girl who everyone calls “Takatsuki-kun.” They both have secrets they can’t let anyone know…
Say hello to the most awkward anime of the year. I’ve heard the story deals with transsexuality and gender identity. The graphic of the anime is marvelous. However, Slice of life hasn’t been my favorite genre, so I probably won’t keep up with it.
Synopsis: *No plot summary has been released yet* Anime based from the game created in collaboration between Yu-Gi-Oh! R manga creator Akira Ito, the original Duel Masters technical advisor Satoshi Nakamura, and Bushiroad President Takaaki Kidani.
Yu-gi-oh! meets Duel Masters. Crap, this sucks. NEXT!!!!!
Rio – Rainbow Gate
Synopsis: The anime features a casino dealer named Rio Rollins who has starred in several pachi-slo (pachinko parlor-style slot machine) games from Net and Temco. In the story, Rio is a popular casino dealer at the Howard Resort, an entertainment resort hotel where people from all over the world gather. She competes for the greatest honor among dealers — “Most Valuable Casino Dealer” — by collecting 13 legendary cards known as “Gates.”
Ecchi + Casino = PURE WIN!!! As much as the story is weak, you can’t deny that this anime looks FUN. And RIO is KAWAII!! and more importantly those bewbs are huge 🙂
Synopsis: Japan has engineered an armed powered exoskeleton called “Infinite Stratos” (IS) and it has become the mainstream of weapons. Since only women can operate an IS, the power balance between men and women have been broken and women now dominate the society over men. Orimura Ichika is a 15-year-old boy and who touches an IS placed in the IS pilot training school. He is found to be the only man who can operate IS and is forced to enter the training school. Ichika’s busy school life surrounded by girls has begun.
This is the complete opposite of Starry Sky lol. Guys, say NO to reverse harem and say YES to regular harem. I’m probably gonna enjoy this show. It is a dream to live a harem life.
Synopsis: Hujuwara-kun is your ordinary adolescent boy , but 10 years ago he noticed he had a power to see multicolored auras surrounding the person’s body which he looks upon through his fingers. Every so often huju-wara has dreams about a war with cats , but one day a girl fell on top of him …. what will happen now with his incoming feline enemies ?
Oookay…Is this show supposed to bring brain damage? The premise seems cheesy. The female characters doesn’t look that cute to cover up the potential crappiness of this anime. Oh well, let’s get on with it so that I can actually finish this damn preview guide.
Quick look at some interesting Movies, OVA, OAD, etc…
I’ve decided to become lazy now.
